So you are married and now you ask yourself how is it possible that I married this type of person? Jip. The problem getting married to the “wrong” person mostly derived from us not knowing ourselves at the time. Think about it, if you had a better idea as to who you were and where you would like to be in the future, or if you had some understanding that people have very specific profiles, you would definitely approach your relationship in a different manner. This alone would have made you and I much more careful choosing our life partner. Now the problem is, we already chose and now we have to make work with the person we chose. The alternative is to get divorced, but then you will still be just yourself with little understanding as to who you are, what you value, and most of all how you would like to set up your life in the near future.
So how do I address the havoc I am experiencing in my marriage? How do I take a broken relationship to a level where I would feel like this marriage is worth the paper it was written on? How?
The important question is that you first have to realize that no one in the world has a quick fix to fixing your marriage your relationship or restoring your family. Everything takes hard work, and most of all it takes a will to start to know yourself so much that you can foremost understand what it is that you value, and what are your dealbreakers. Once you have a clear set of dealbreakers together with what you value, you can start the journey to align your future with your partner. Obviously, it goes without saying in order for your marriage and or relationship to deepen and move to a better place, both you and your partner equally need to want this relationship to be salvaged and restored. If just one has the drive to change and restore, couples therapy will not work, but you as an individual can still proceed to get to know yourself so that in the future you will be equipped to understand what you value and what you expect of a partner. No time wasted, just a good investment in your own future of happiness.
